I come from Sleman, a distric in Jogjakarta, Indonesia. A place where the people really enjoy their food. Because the distric is has a large territory, we have a huge variety of delicious dishes. I would like to tell you a bit about some of them.
The first food that I would explain is yellow rice. It’s include a mine menu, wich made from regular rice and added the kunir and a little salt. And when we cooking them the water is replace by coconut milk, therefore the taste is very savory. The yellow color is from the traditional flavour wich is kunir. The servicing is complete by fried eggs, sambal kering, fried chicken and the fried peanuts. Sambal kering made from fried soybean tempe and have been cook with spicy taste. Yellow rice been served usualy when in someone birthday, we do not cut the tart bread but cut the tumpeng. The tumpeng is the same with yellow rice but has a different form. It’s become a cone of yellow rice and surround by the additional foods as I explained before. But, we can meet this food every morning in local shop.
The next meal is ampyang. Ampyang made from peanuts and Javanese sugar. Javanese sugar is a traditionally sugar,wich made from essence of coconut flower. Then, they been cooked together until a thick and been cooled. The form usually is round. Because it made from sugar so the taste is very sweet, and mixed with savory from the peanuts. This meals can get anytime we want, because the produce of ampyang is continuously and become a home industry. In particular, it can be a special gift from Sleman, wich prefered by local tourists.
